Headstones received - to be placed by Cleve Allen
along with one for Mary Cis Dockins which was purchased
by her descendants
Dates hidden under the cardboard.
They will be placed in the locations that follow. Mary Cis Dockins stone has been ordered by her descendants and when it is finished, all 3 will be placed as shown below:
Dennis Berry sent a photo of the headstone for
Josephine C Rochester
daughter of Mary Cis and Andrew Dockins
at Joy Baptist Church
close up view follows full view:
Josephine was born after the death of Andrew
(if I have Andrew's dates correct and I sure hope I do)
I wonder if all of Mary's daughters died before she did!
NO - the obit says she leaves 3 daughters in 1941.
One of the 3 is "Mrs. John Rochester" - same last name as Jospehine!!
And what killed both Matthew and Andrew in just 4 years and in the prime of their lives?
War injuries???

January 2011:
After 8 months of research, and with the help of so many, we are ready now to bring this to a wonderful conclusion.
We are applying for military headstones for
Andrew J. and Matthew C. Dockins
Soldiers of the Confederacy
11th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, Company F
We hope to put these headstones on either side of a headstone for
Mary C. Dockins
to be purchased by her descendants.
All 3 headstones to be placed in the Wiley Cemetery where Mary was buried in 1941,
at a location to be determined by her descendants and with the approval
of the cemetery officials.
Photos of the cemetery can be found in the link on the left - "Wiley Cemetery"
Supporting documents, and applications for the headstones follow:
Wiley Cemetery is shown to be the last resting place of Mary C. Dockins per the article in The Clayton Tribune, Thursday, January 23rd, 1941:
The headstones for Matthew and Andrew would be on each side of that of Mary and would be located to the left of the headstone of James Dockins and the brown stone to it's left. James' headstone in this photo is marked with the flag.
The applications for the headstones follow:
