Haltdalen Manskor!
The Haltdalen Mannskor presents:
HALTDALEN MALE CHOIR.
The Haltdalen male choir is a group of approximately 20 singers based in Haltdalen, in the middle of Norway, who perform TTBB music. The ensemble undertakes numerous engagements close to home, but has also performed and competed in Trondheim and Bergen.
Today (2004), most of the singers (13) come from Singsaas, and two from Aalen.
Our beginnings.
The Haltdalen male choir was formed in 1985 when a group of passionate song lovers decided to establish an organized structure within which they could pursue their shared joy of singing. During the first years the choir only performed in Haltdalen and neighbouring Aalen, mostly in connection with special occasions like Christmas and national day, 17th of May, but also participating in local music events and entertainment. Gradually the choir began to give their own concerts and cabarets, going on tour almost every year since 1994.
Highlights.
A disciplined approach to the music -due to the musical director since the beginnings: Tore Reppe - has had its rewards. These have included first prizes in competition in Trondheim 1998 and 2000, and 2nd prize in a Nordic competition in Bergen in 2001.
Our music.
Our repertoire ranges from sacred hymns to the best of national (and even international) light music, from serious classical music to songs and ballads, from Norwegian folk music to contemporary rock-a-pella.
They have graciously allowed us to present here their incredible presentation of the Norwegian National Anthem from that CD.
