The Norwegians have produced incredible "bottom up" documentation organized by farm in books for each town such as the Singsaasboka for Singsaas, Bygdefolk og Bygdeliv I Storen, for Storen.. For each 'residence' on a farm, the families that lived in that building are defined. I am going to show my family tree back to Jens and Raghild, and then display the pages in the book that define my line down to my immigrant Jens Winsness, born 1882.
There are actually 6 paths to Jens 1882 from Jens and Ragnhild!
The line on the far right is the line that is consistently in the one family site.
Even here there is a split - and we will follow the left split as it stays in the house.
Legend: f = born, d = died, g (gift) = marriage, "tok over bruket" = took over farm
Jens and Ragnhild had 4 children - we descend further through Per 1603
Jens has 2 children with Ingeborg (she was identified through other records).
Per, born 1638 is next in our line as shown below.
The line I'm following skips sibling Erlend, but please note that Erland and Dordi head BOTH the lines on the left half of the large chart above!
But for our direct line living at that farm, skip down to the middle of the page and look at Per 1638 and Else 1640 and their 5 children. Of those 5, we continue our line through their first born son, Per, born 1679 and his family begins at the bottom of the page..
The family of Per and Anne continue below and our line continues through their first son (5th child) Per, born 1711 (I show 1710 on the family tree).
His family begins at the bottom of the page.
Per 1711 and Ingeborg 1720 had 5 children and the second, Sven 1745, continues our line on this particular farm home.
Interestingly, it shows Per also took over the farm, but shows 2 marriages and I believe they moved to another farm
Follow Sven 1745 and you see he maried Kari Olsdatter Kjelden 1752.
From their 8 children, we actually descend through both Sven 1782 and Anne 1879 but we will continue to follow the drect line - Sven 1782:
Sven 1782 marries Marit Hansdatter Malum (see above) - see the words "gift 1805" below - married 1805!
Sven 1782 and Marit move to or start the new home - Nordstu'u and that structure exists today!
See "Nordstu'u" which defines their family as having 6 children, the first of which is Sven 1806 who takes over the farm.
This Sven first marries Kari Persdatter Vinsnes 1811 and then Marit Persdatter Talsnes (cousin to first wife Kari). With Marit is born Kari 1841, Jens loses the home due to poor business and alcohol after the death of Marit, and moves across the road to Litjstu'u. At the bottom of the page it describes Kari's marriage to Jens Olsen Rogsatdplassen.
The following page shows what happens to the Nordstu'u home after Jens and Kari lose the farm. It is purchased by a cousin.
Interesting fact: Under the family of Esten Steffensen 1860 and Ingeborg is son Steffen Estensen 1884 who marries Petra Johnsdatter Kvernmo.
Petra was the childhood sweetheart of our grandfather, Jens 1882.
The "new" house "Litjstuu" which means "Little House" is shown above and below.
Child 4 is our grandfather, Jens born 1882 who relocated to American in 1905.
The son of Jens' brother Sven, Jens 1892, was sponsored to America in 1910 by Jens.
