Norwegian Records
For this project, we need to look at the records for Singsaas, Storen, and Haltdalen. I have the Singsaasboka and Storen Bygdefolk books and will get Haltdalen in June. But we are starting Volume II of The Immigrants Ancestry - Other Early Settlers, and the first person we are enjoying working with is Dennis Lietz - a descendant of Iver Singsasmoen (aka Singsaas). I was discussing the books with Dennis and thought it would be good to follow just a bit of his lineage to show how it's done. Incidently, Dennis already had a lot of his ancestry, but without the books, it would be about impossible to be real complete.
Lets follow his tree and insert images from the books - "f" means born, "d" for death, and "g" or "gift" for marriage in the Norwegian documents:

The images that follow are from the Storen Bygdefolk Bind 1 pages 388 and 389
But the format is different than that of the Singsaasboka's
The Roman Numerals identify the
"Generation"
Skip Sivert Eriksen's family - I should not have scanned it except, they were in the farm "Sorgarden at Rognes" just before Arnt Estensen!
Arnt Estensen 1659 is Generation "I" and born of he and Marit were Generation II persons a-e.
Person II e is Esten Arntsen Rognes 1701 who with Berit has children III a-f
Person III f is Kjersti (Kirsti) Estensdatter Rognes born 1746 who married Erik Olsen Buset (person 28 in the ancestry above)
Printing this web page out and then going up and down the examples is probably the only way to figure it out.
Note - we used 1 of the 3 volumes of Storen books and both of the Singsaasboka documents just for these few people.
Confused - thank the Norwegian genealogists for answering all my often dumb questions!

There are 2 key links below: First, is from Becky Moore and the second is a link that leads you to more on-line records, and fantastic explanations of the titles on the columns of Parish records, and very interesting information about the information that can be found in the records!

Becky Moore has been very successful at finding actual hand written birth, marriage, and death records of her Norwegian ancestors and has provided the following to help us with the same task.
"When the page comes up it will be in Norwegian, however there is an English version. The English link is on the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. Click on it and the English version will come up.
From there select “Digitised Parish Registers” (Located in the blue bar at the top of the page.) Another page will come up.
Now from here you have 4 options. I’ve only tried one. The first one…”Read the Digitised Parish Registers”. That link will take you to where you can select your county, parish and register types. The screen refreshes while you make each selection, so be patient. When you are through selecting you should have a list of all Official and Copies of Parish Registers grouped by years. I don’t know if there is a significant difference between the two, but I personally try to stick with the originals whenever possible. And from there it’s the tedious reading of each page. But once you know what to look for it goes pretty fast.
In my opinion the search through these records goes a lot faster than reading online images of US Census Records! I usually just look through one column and look for the farm name. I can usually find what I’m looking for fairly quick If I know what I’m looking for, place, event and year farm name(if known) and person’s name.
Good hunting.
Becky"
In 2009, Becky adds more!
About the link you provided, towards the bottom of the page where it talks about "Other documents that might be of interest". You quoted me saying "When you are through selecting you should have a list of all Official and Copies of Parish Registers grouped by years. I don’t know if there is a significant difference between the two, but I personally try to stick with the originals whenever possible. And from there it’s the tedious reading of each page. I have since found out why there are two sets. I found an article at rootsweb that was written by John Follesdal. He states:
"The frequent loss of parish registers in fires led to a royal decree in 1812 that the klokker (sexton) [ 3 ] in each parish should maintain a duplicate copy of the parish register. (In a few parishes such duplicates had already been maintained voluntarily by the parish sextons since the 1700’s). The royal decree of 1812 also stated that the parish register and the klokkerbok should never be kept under the same roof, not even for a single night. Finally, the decree required that the original parish register and the klokkerbok should be compared twice a year in order to ensure the accuracy of the klokkerbok. This requirement has an important implication for our genealogy research: if you cannot find an entry in the parish register in the chronological place where you would expect to find it, it is possible that it was not entered due to an oversight. You may, however, find it listed at a later date in the parish register or in the klokkerbok when the semi-annual comparison of the two books took place.
The requirement that a klokkerbok be maintained only lasted from 1812 until 1820, but many sextons continued to maintain duplicate records until they had filled out the blank pages in the book that they were currently using in 1820. Fortunately, several dioceses reintroduced the requirement of maintaining a klokkerbok in approximately 1890, and as a result you will find that many parishes have a klokkerbok copy of the parish registers for an extended time period."
You can read the whole article here: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/na20.html
Personally, I would still try to stick with the original, mistakes could have been made in the "copy"
