Marit Bjørgen
Marit Bjørgen is from Rognes in Storen. As such, she is probably related to many that went to Hendricks MN. We are proud of the anchor skiier that won the gold medal with her team February 2005. We are trying to see if we are related to this wonderful member of the Norwegian cross-country relay team.
Norway takes gold in cross-country relay
Four Norwegian women skied what they later described as "the perfect race" on Monday, grabbing the gold medal in the Nordic relay (stafett) at the World Championships in Oberstdorf.
The gold medal winners (from left) Kristin Størmer Steira, Marit Bjørgen, Hilde Gjermundshaug Pedersen and Vibeke Skofterud.
She overtook a Russian rival on the last uphill and into the stadium. "I just really wanted to get right up behind her back, and when I managed that, I just had to stay there," Bjørgen exulted, calling the victory "a wonderful feeling."
Marit crosses the finish line!
The three other members of the women's relay team included Kristin Størmer Steira, Hilde Gjermundshaug Pedersen and Vibeke Skofterud.
