Storen Bygdefolk
In January 2010 I received an email from Leslie Roberts, a descendent from Gilbert Hansen Lien 1865-1900, however, she did not know that until Ken Lien provided some information.
I do not have the Lien Lineage, however, Gilbert Hansen Lien married Johanna Jonsdatter Rosbjorgen (1864-1941) and the had 7 children, I believe. I thought it would be fun to show Leslie how one of her lines, that of Johanna, is shown in the Storen Bygdefolk book as the way they show lineage is different than that of the Singsaasboka of which I already have one example (Vinsnes!).
In the Storen Book, each generation number is shown as a Roman numeral and each child in that generation is given an alpha character. But you have to be careful as generation II has children from several of those in generation I. You have to look and see that the children of someone in generation I might be "II a-e", and another from generation I can have children shown as "II f" through "II j"
As always, f=born, d=died, gift or g = marriage, "Barn" = born. "Bonde i Ronningen" means he was a tennant farmer on the farm Ronningen. Husmannsfolk under Rognes means the same I think. In both cases, they did not own land but worked at that farm or lived in that house.
I'll show the tree, and on it I show where on the images from the book you can find that person. Enjoy!
There is debate about the farm name or middle name for Lars - I think Ken Lien has it as Iversen and my sources had Dryvoll
maybe we can research that, however it's WAY back in time and difficult. The Storen book clearly shows
Lars last name to be "Ronningen". I'll try to get some resolution from the Norwegian experts!
John Olsen and Anne Olsdatter moved their whole family in 1878.
Johanna, born 1864 marries Gilbert Hansen Lien!
And I decided to look up Anne Olsdatter Solem, born 1834, Johanna's mother.
From Storen's Bygdefolk Bind II page 21 person III c.
Her parents are shown as II a. and her grandparents shown as I below:
As noted above, I see that the wife of Ole Eriksen Solem 1804 is Marit Henriksdatter Solem and I found her on page 30 so below is that page:
Marit's father shown above is Henrik Henriksen who was born on the farm Folstad in the house Oppstu in 1728.
The information on Henrik is in Bind I (volume 1) - everything prior to this in the above images is from Bind II.
Henrik 1782 is on the 2nd page shown below as person II h. and he is the son of person I, Henrik Jensen Folstad 1739.
Henrik Jensen Folstad 1739 is on the 2nd image below - page 128 of Bind I and is shown as person I at the bottom of the page,
and detailed in the family above as person IV j.
His father is shown as person III d, Jens Arntsen Folstad 1689
And his father is shown as II a, however we have an error in the book as the children of II a are described to be "a-c"
but it should have said "a-d" - to be corrected in the next version of the Storen book we are told.
Person II a, Arnt Olsen Folstad 1638 has father Ole Jonsen Folstad, person I.
And the lineage ends there in the book.
